I wanted to build something in the UAE. I wanted to... You know how it is when you enter a new market; you have big dreams, a lot of energy and naive confidence.
Odoo had already grown from a small open source ERP into a global business platform, but we were always looking for the next place where we could make a difference.
The UAE quickly became one of those places.
When you look at the UAE, you see a country that moves fast. New companies are created, international businesses arrive, entrepreneurs build new ideas, and technology is becoming part of almost every business. It is difficult not to get excited when everyone around you is thinking about growth.
For Odoo, this was a natural fit.
Our mission was simple: make companies a better place, one app at a time. And the UAE was full of companies that wanted to become better, faster and more efficient.
But entering a new market is never as easy as it looks.
You arrive with a great product and a great plan. Then you meet customers and discover that every market has its own reality.
The UAE is particularly diverse. You have startups, family businesses, large international companies and rapidly growing entrepreneurs. They all have different needs, different cultures and different ways of working.
We had to listen and learn.
We needed to understand the market, build relationships and create a strong local partner ecosystem. Because selling software is one thing; helping a company successfully transform the way it works is something completely different.
As Odoo grew in the UAE, we started seeing something exciting.
Companies were no longer looking at Odoo simply as an ERP. They were using it to connect their entire business: sales, accounting, inventory, eCommerce, marketing, HR, manufacturing and more.
That is when the real value became clear.
A growing company does not need more software. It needs fewer systems that work better together.
This is particularly important in the UAE, where companies often grow quickly and expand across the region. A business can start in Dubai and soon have customers, employees and operations across Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and beyond.
The UAE is not only a market.
It is a gateway.
And that makes the opportunity for Odoo much bigger.
Today, the UAE is becoming an important part of the Odoo story. The community is growing, more companies are adopting Odoo, and more entrepreneurs are building businesses around the platform.
But this is only the beginning.
The UAE is still building its future, and Odoo wants to be part of that journey.
